Advent Day #23
He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: John 1:10-12
Imagine with me a street urchin no one really sees. Day after day he looks for a fallen penny to buy food or a dropped scrap of bread that he can eat. At night, he seeks a dry place to sleep with just a threadbare blanket to huddle under. No one listens to what this orphan has to say or cares about his dreams.
But then, one day a King’s Son offers him a place at the table and a royal bed in which to sleep. Not only does this Son offer him lodging in the palace, but He makes him heir to the royal inheritance. The King’s authority becomes his authority, as long as he acts in accordance with the King’s heart. Oh, and the King does not want him to address him as King. No, he wishes the former street urchin to call Him Father, just like the King’s Son does.
The world made no room for Jesus, but still He came to make room for me, the little street urchin who has nothing at all to offer Him in return. Even now, He prepares a place for everyone who will believe in His name. His authority as the King’s Son empowers all who will to become sons and daughters of His Father. He’s already purchased His right to do this by making Himself just like the street urchins, and then accepting the punishment they deserved on the cross. Though no one made room for Him, He makes room for you and me. At Christmas, this is the Gift we celebrate. Happy Christmas Eve!

What an inheritance we have because of our Father! What power we can live in here on earth because of Him! 🙌🏼💗
