Advent Day #10
And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. Luke 2:6
In the big middle of the miraculous, time still moved in ordinary ways. In Luke 1:10, the people of God stood outside the temple praying as Zechariah made the sacrifice. It would have been customary for them to pray for God to send the Promised Messiah while they waited. At that very moment, God was setting in motion the answer to their prayers, though it would be at least fifteen months until Jesus was born, and another thirty-three years until His death would provide the atonement for sin His people needed.
An inconvenient trip to Bethlehem for Mary and Joseph occurred because of a king’s decree, but that, too, was part of God’s divine plan. Jesus had to be born in Bethlehem according to the ancient prophecies. (Micah 5:2) God used the miraculous, the inconvenient, and the ordinary to accomplish His purposes.
There may be a prayer in your heart today, and God has already set in motion the answer. It may have inconvenient timing. It may not make sense what God is allowing. The answer may not come the way you think, but God uses the ordinary to accomplish the miraculous.
With expectant hearts, we can trust and wait, knowing the days will be accomplished just as He plans.

Excellent devotion, sweetie! Thank you!

Accepting and resting in His sovereignty is, I think, one of the hardest things as believers. We all want what we want…..now. 😉 I am so thankful to see His sovereign hand in my life even in the midst of a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. He is God and He is always good. I am so very thankful for His greater purpose and plan. 💕
