Pro-Life Ministry in the Church

Women who go to church seek abortions.

Is this a shocking statement to you? It shouldn’t be.

All church attendees are imperfect people. Everyone is a sinner in need of a Savior. Some sins, such as gossip or backbiting, are less shocking, but temptation beckons everyone into its trap.

Where does a pastor’s daughter go when she finds out she is expecting a child out of wedlock? Is it so much easier for everyone if she can quietly make her “problem” go away? What is the deacon’s college-age daughter to do when the stick says “positive.” The ramifications she expects upon telling her parents will determine her decision. How the church speaks of unwed mothers will drive women to the church or the abortion clinic for help.

Being Pro-Life goes far beyond the laws in our Nation’s Capital. It must be more than the words from the pulpit and the signs in our yards.  It must look like “compassion making a difference.” How you get involved in the lives of those making the brave and difficult decision to “Choose Life” says much more about your church than whether there is a “Choose Life” graphic on your church’s website.

As we recognize mothers next weekend, it is important to champion all mothers. Encourage, mentor, support, and offer tangible help to those choosing to birth the children God has placed in their womb. Many pregnancy centers are starting their Baby Bottle campaigns to collect loose change. This is a small way to get involved. There are many more ways big and small to put action where your words are. Do not give the women in your church any reason to look for help in the abortion clinics.

I would love to hear how your church champions the Pro-Life movement. Drop a comment below to let me know!

Have a blessed weekend, my friends!

  1. What good reminders! I don’t think our church condemns unwed mothers because of the way I’ve seen them support and encourage them within the church, but I’m sure there is more to be done! Thank you for sharing your heart. 💕

    1. I’m so glad your church is already so supportive and encouraging! It is certainly something I would love to see every church engaging in with more intention. Thanks for reading!
