New Year, Faithful God

2024! Can you believe how quickly this new year came? I admit that the older I get, the faster the years pass, especially now that most of my children are grown.

As I sought the Lord for the spiritual theme for this year, the faithfulness of God came up time and again. Abraham’s encounter with El-Olam, the Everlasting One in Genesis 21:33 is a comfort to all who seek to follow Him. He reigns forever. He never changes. He will be there for generation after generation when we have long been forgotten.

Last year, I sought to deepen my prayer life, and I created a prayer journal which I have used throughout the year. It has been a source of steady and concentrated direction for me, as I grew in prayer. You can find that link here if you would like to use it this year.

For this year, the Lord impressed my heart with the need to use idle time in memorization, rather than useless scrolling on social media. Since my year’s topic is God’s faithfulness, those verses fill my schedule. Many people enjoy writing Scriptures, so this could also be a weekly Scripture writing schedule, if you would rather. It is organized weekly, rather than daily, so it is a flexible schedule to use however it works best for you.

I remember many years ago having a Pastor who encouraged us to read passages of Scripture seven times a day for seven days to aid in memorizing God’s Word. My plan is to make a weekly wallpaper, and read through the verse every time I pick up my phone to scroll social media. My goal is to make Scripture memorization more of a habit than Facebook or Instagram! If you would like to join me, you can download my schedule below.
