Why Am I Proud to be An American?

Why am I proud to be an American?

Because brave men for me have died.

When evil tried to crush the good,

They stood to turn the tide.

Why am I proud to be an American?

Because my land still stands free.

I can worship without fear,

I can serve God openly.

Why am I proud to be an American?

Because hard work still brings success.

People come from all around,

They can pursue excellence.

Why am I proud to be an American?

Because justice cannot be erased,

One despot cannot rule with fear,

The Constitution still has its place.

Why am I proud to be an American?

Because my flag flies free.

The Stars and Stripes bought by blood,

Still waves with Strength and Liberty.

Why am I proud to be an American?

Because Hope yet has a voice.

When evil tries to crush man’s spirit,

Freedom still offers souls a choice.

Happy 4th of July, my friends!

  1. Though some liberties are under attack here in the USA, we still enjoy more freedoms than many around the globe. You brought to mind another reason to be proud of America: our generous spirit, responsible for billions of dollars annually (maybe more?) that help people in need, both here and abroad. Some of that revenue has been provided through taxes, still more has been donated through charities and ministries. It makes me proud to be a part of blessings others on such a grand scale!
