Beautiful Women of Faith: A Woman Unnamed

She stayed when everyone else walked away.

She supported her husband when he came in exhausted after preaching to people who wouldn’t listen.

She protected her three small boys from the violent, lewd, evil world outside of their home.

She provided a good example to her daughters-in-law when they, too, chose to follow their husbands instead of the world.

She did not need to make a name for herself; she was more invested in protecting the ones she loved.

Mrs. Noah believed God right along with her husband, finding grace to escape the destruction sin deserved.

Together, they did not lose their children. That too was a miracle of grace.

Her faith resounded through the generations of women after her as the mother and grandmother of the only family left to begin again.

We do not even know her name, but we know her faith. We, as her great (many times over) granddaughters, resonate with her legacy now more than ever, because Jesus said as the time drew near His return, life would again look like her day did.

And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. Genesis 6:5

But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Matthew 24:36-39

God weaves pictures of Jesus throughout the Old Testament. For seven days, the ark that Noah built was left open and ready for all who would seek shelter to come inside. He had preached for over one hundred years that judgment was coming. Once the doors shut, however, there was no more hope.

Like that ark, Jesus is the one hope all of mankind has to escape the judgment sin deserves. For those who leave everything they thought could save them behind to place all their faith in Jesus, He seals them and carries them out of the world before the seven years of Tribulation fall. (See 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18, Revelation 6-19; Daniel 12:1-3). During these seven years of more trouble than the world has ever seen, those who rejected Jesus have one last chance to call on Him for salvation. Like the door of the Ark standing open for seven days, seven years of God’s patience are mankind’s last hope. Once Jesus returns to reign with a rod of iron, those who rejected Him will have no more time to repent.

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.
Revelation 19:11-16

Whether or not the world knows your name, my friend, make sure Jesus does. Do not wait to place your faith in Him. Do not try to hold on to anything in this world. Get “in the boat” and make it your life’s mission to bring your family with you. Just like in Mrs. Noah’s day, evil is everywhere, and it is not getting better.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:9-13

Don’t let anything in this world distract you from pointing those you love the most to the only Hope still left on this planet. Jesus is returning, and there is still time to avoid God’s judgment. May we, like Noah’s wife, faithfully carry out the mundane, yet most important duties we have until the day the door closes. Have a blessed weekend, my friends!
