As much as I remember that only God can change the course and direction of this world, Election Day always presents itself with a sliver of hope to my heart. Maybe this time, someone with morals and ethics and integrity will come and turn this sinful nation around. Anyone else?

Then, I remember what kind of world Jesus was born into. His people thought He came to save them from the political system. He had a much higher purpose, however. He came to save man from their sins.

One by one, soul by soul, He changes one person at a time. He made Himself of no reputation. He made Himself dependent on His own creation. He made Himself subject to the whims of those with far less knowledge and wisdom than His own. Why? So He could demonstrate His love and save them from the wages of their sin.

On Instagram, I have been meditating on the names and attributes of God, and the study has been encouraging and foundational to a grateful heart. Knowing who He is gives me strength and courage to live for Him “for such a time as this.”

Today’s focus was on Immanuel, God with us. It reminded me of a poem I wrote a few Christmases ago, so I decided to share it here. I pray it is a blessing to you today!
Immanuel, God With Us
The One who the earth
And Heaven can’t contain
Within His Creation,
A Womb would constrain.
In flesh that would tear,
With a heart that could break,
He who commanded the stars
Chose silence for our sake.
His Word remained silent;
For months He kept still,
And out of His silence
His Word He’d fulfill.
All that He promised
Lay sleeping on straw.
Not one word fell empty
The barren tomb He foresaw.
Because His sure coming
Fulfilled all that He said,
Man’s heart can rest sure
He will come back again.
Nothing He’s promised
Returns to Him void.
In His presence forever
His redeemed will rejoice.

Even so, come quickly, Lord. But until then, give us boldness to speak your Truth to a world lost in darkness. Amen.

Ah, amen! He does that for me so often. His mind just works so differently from ours. So thankful He came down for us. Love you too!
